Chillicothe Civic Theatre is committed to highlighting and honoring talents of all participants regardless of race, gender or gender expression, sexual orientation, economic background, body size, physical ability, or other non-majority experience. 

 

We understand that many older plays contain problematic language or casting direction.

We have and will continue to contact our rights holders in order to advocate for nontraditional casting and request permissions to change requested physical characteristics when the most talented candidates do not fit the author-requested standard. 

We have and will continue to contact our rights holders in order to advocate for changes to licensed text when our directors or executive board feel that an outdated statement or representation does not add to our understanding of the story or character.
